Traffic = Sales
First thing to know is that sales are simply a calculation of traffic. Conversion rate is simply a percentage of traffic. It’s simple, without traffic, you won’t have sales. Doing everything you can to increase traffic to your site will lead to more sales. This can include social advertising campaigns, email marketing, SMS marketing, push notifications..etc. Best way to increase sales is with more traffic.
Clear Call to Action
What is your call to action? Buy Now? Sign Up? Pretty boring if you ask me.
How about:
Buy Now and Receive 50% off your first order while supplies last!
or
Sign Up Today to receive 10 training Tips for FREE. No commitment, No Credit card.
Unfortunately, most landing pages don’t even have a clear call to action, but embellishing your call to action will always increase your conversion rates.
Above the Fold
Where is your call to action? Below the fold? Does a user have to scroll down to click to buy or sign up? When you’re creating a landing page or even an email, always keep your call to action above the fold. No scrolling should be required to click your CTA.
A/B Testing:
$12 shipped or 50% off $24 with free shipping? Which will convert better?
I have no idea, and neither do you. Always do A/B testing with offers, landing pages, headlines and call to actions. Learn what works best and then double down on that.
Social Proof:
Consumers want to believe one simple thing:
People like me buy products like this.
Therefore, we need to include social proof on our product/landing pages. This can include:
Customer reviews, both video and static
Available at these retailers
“As seen on”
All of these will help potential customers believe “People like me, but products like this.”
More Clicks = Less Sales:
90% of brands I have worked with have 1-3 skus that make up a far majority of sales. As an experiment, I always count the number of clicks it takes from landing on their homepage to converting on those 1-3 SKUS.
If it’s more than 3, they’re falling behind.
With every click, conversion rates plummet. Reduce the number of clicks to conversions at all costs. This applies to your homepage, landing pages or advertisements.
Coupon Applied Automatically:
One of the best ways to reduce clicks is to automatically apply coupon codes. For example with Shopify you can simply append any url with / “discount” / “discount code”
https://www.yourwebsite.com/discount/CODE
and now anyone who uses that link will have the code automatically applied.
Direct-To-Cart Links:
Want to make this even more powerful? Don’t send users to a product or landing page, send them directly to the cart with the code already applied. I have seen conversion rates triple with utilizing direct to cart links. I have created a separate post explaining how to do this.
Slide Cart:
Don’t want to send them directly to the cart? You better have a slide cart on your site. No need to have someone add to cart and leave the product page. A slide cart will keep them on the product page and decrease additional clicks and page loads.
Subscriptions:
The best way to increase conversion rates is to guarantee conversions. Subscription programs are the best way to increase monthly recurring revenue and conversion rates on your store. Determine the best offer you can provide to your customers and give it to them with a subscription product. Best way to increase conversions is to guarantee them.
